Youva’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj-Themed Longbooks and Marathi ‘Suvichaar’ Pencils Reach Stores in Maharashtra

Maharashtra, February 19, 2026:

Coinciding with Shivaji Jayanti celebrations across Maharashtra, stationery brand Youva has introduced a themed range of school supplies centred on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The 17th-century Maratha ruler continues to occupy a prominent place in the region’s historical and cultural memory, and the products bring familiar historical references into everyday classroom use.

The range appears to cater to different age groups in schools — the longbooks are suited to middle and secondary school students, while the pencils are likely to find use among younger children.

All the longbooks carry illustrated interpretations of moments and symbols associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The accompanying pencils carry short inspirational Marathi sayings, including a quote attributed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The launch reflects a broader trend of incorporating regional and cultural references into everyday school items. As social media exposure becomes increasingly global, educators and parents often look for ways to retain a sense of cultural identity in students’ daily lives.

Abhijit Sanyal, chief strategy officer at Youva Stationery, said the idea was to combine contemporary thinking with cultural relevance. “Students interact with these objects every day, and they can serve as small reminders of qualities such as discipline and courage associated with leaders like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” he said.

Retailers say such themes typically see interest around commemorative occasions but continue to sell through the academic year if students find them relatable. With the new school term approaching, the products are likely to be part of the back-to-school purchases.
