      “CRAFT MELA” - An Exclusive Exhibition cum Sale of Handicrafts & Handcrafted Textiles

The Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited popularly known as ‘Poompuhar’ is conducting exhibitions throughout the year all over the country.

‘Craft Mela’ exhibition organized by Poompuhar, the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (Govt of Tamil Nadu) and sponsored by Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India, New Delhi at Shri Sunderbai Hall, Shri Nathibai Thackersey Road, Church Gate, Opposite to SNDT College, Behind Income Tax Office, Mumbai for the period from 26.08.2016 to 05.09.2016.  In this exhibition a variety of handicrafts from all over India arranged on display for sale.

 The prime craft of exhibition is bronzes, Brass lamps, Thanjavur Artplate, Stone Carvings, Thanjavur paintings, Wood Carvings, Handcrafted  Textiles from different part of India and artificial and semi precious Jewellery, Papier Mache, Clay, Jute and all other Handicrafts.



The main objective of conducting this exhibition is to provide an opportunity for the connoisseurs of Handicrafts to source their requirement of various handicrafts from various parts of India under one roof which helps the craft persons to increase the sales of their products, particularly exporters, to a substantial extent.


This exhibition showcases the best and innovative handicrafts of various parts of India.  More than 50 crafts persons including Govt Awardees and Members from Self Help Groups; Co-operative Societies are participating in this special event and selling their, unique craft items directly.  This will facilitate the craftsperson to know the taste of public and they can interact with the bulk buyers and exporters which will enable them to know the buyers’ exact requirement so as to bring in changes if any, in their products to suit the market demand.

 The art lovers and connoisseurs would definitely find many artifacts to their like.  This would be a rare opportunity for the citizens of Mumbai to see and buy all the varieties of artistic handicrafts directly from craft persons.

The period of this exhibition is from 26.08.2016 to 05.09.2016and is open from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm daily (including Sundays) and all major credit cards are accepted and 10% special discount offered in this Craft Mela.
