MUMBAI, December 13, 2016: Oberoi International School, one of the leading IB World Schools in Mumbai organised the city’s first ‘Festival of Choirs’ for primary section students, today. In this one-day festival, around 300 students participated from kindergarten to grade 5, from some of the renowned international schools in Mumbai. These schools are The American School of Bombay, Jamnabai International and Ascend International.

The prime objective for Oberoi School to host the Choir festival is to spread awareness about choral singing and its benefits. ‘Peace and Harmony’ was the theme for performing choirs at the festival, wherein each choir group of approximately 50 students exhibited their singing talent for 10 minutes.

Talking about the event, Naveen Cabral (Performance Co-ordinator and Music Teacher), said, “We are glad to host a festival of choral singing for the students in the age group of 5 to 12 years, for the first time in Mumbai. It was an unusual and exciting experience for the younger children. Choral singing helps to identify the potential singing talent at an early age. It is the beginning stage of developing vocal skills and working on singing techniques. We wanted to promote these benefits of choral singing and bring different schools together on a common platform by organising this festival.”

Due to its unique concept, the festival received an over-whelming response from schools and students. Considering its success, Oberoi International School is planning to continue hosting the festival in the future years, as well.
