Exhibition of Khadi products from Bihar Inaugurated. Expected to Receive Excellent Response On from 13th December to 16th December 2018

Mumbai: Bihar State Khadi and Village Industries Board is organizing a four-day exhibition-cum-sale of Khadi products from Bihar at Malpani Ground, Satya Nagar, Borivali West, Mumbai,from Thursday (December 13th) to  Sunday (December 16th) which is managed by team of Grant Thornton will be open from 11 am to 8 pm on all 4 days.
Addressing the media at the sidelines of Inaugurating Bihar Khadi Expo and Buyer seller meet at Mumbai, Shri B.N. Prasad, CEO, Bihar Khadi and Village Industries Board and Shri V. Padmanand, Executive Director, Grant Thornton India LLP,said that around 30 exhibitors from across the state will have their stalls in the four-days exhibition. The top exhibitors includeBihar Khadi Board Bhavan, Habibullah Gramin Vikash Khadi and Gramudyog Sangh, Resham Bunkar Gramudyog Sahyog Samiti Ltd., Srijani and Krishna Apiary.

“The exhibition will feature a wide range of Khadi products, including cotton fabric, silk sarees, salwar material, readymade garments,bed sheets,honey and organic soaps.It will also have Bhagalpur Silk, which is known as ‘Queen of all fabrics’ and sarees with Madhubani painting. The exhibition will offer the city residents a chance to experience and purchase Khadi products from Bihar,” said B.N. Prasad. A discount of 20 per cent will be provided on all products, according to the organizers. It’s the first time Bihar State Khadi and Village Industries Board is conducting an exhibition in Mumbai.

Bihar, a leading producer of Khadi products in the country, has over 80 registered Khadi manufacturing units. Many of the Khadi manufacturers in the state are key suppliers of cotton and silk products to big retail chains. Team, Grant Thornton said that over the years Khadi fabrics evolved as fashion garments. “Khadi cloth has now become a canvas for imaginative creations in the fashion industry. It has evolved with time. The vibrant color palette it offers makes it the favorite fabric of the young generation,” he said. Further, he elaborated on the “need for small khadi processors to move up the value-chain through design and technology intervention”. As a matter of fact, all such initiatives are in progress in Bihar where khadi institutions are now being upgraded on the above and even on the “Management Information System (MIS)” front, on-line marketing front, etc. The most dynamic Principal Secretary Industries, Govt. of Bihar, Shri. K.K. Pathak has been pioneering several interventions with Grant Thornton serving as Project Management Consultant.
