Amara Raja Energy & Mobility wins the Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability

Honoured with the prestigious 'Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability' for 2023 in the Automotive Ancillary sector.
Hyderabad, October 19: Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd (ARE&M), formerly known as Amara Raja Batteries Ltd, a comprehensive solutions provider in the Energy & Mobility space, has been honored with the prestigious 'Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability' in the Automotive Ancillary sector for the year 2023. This award is a recognition of Amara Raja's dedication to sustainability and environmentally friendly manufacturing practices, among other commendable efforts.
The award was presented in London to Mr. Prashant Tiwari, Chief Sustainability Officer of Amara Raja Group, during a ceremony attended by notable figures, including Lt Gen Surinder Nath, India President Institute of Directors; Sir Alok Sharma, British Member of Parliament; Dr. Tayeb Kamali, UAE Chairman IOD; and Christine du Toit, COO-USA of the World Gold Council.
The Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD) in India in 1991, are internationally recognized as a symbol of corporate excellence. These awards serve as a global benchmark for acknowledging and promoting outstanding corporate achievements.
ARE&M has consistently emphasized sustainability and has taken deliberate steps to reduce its environmental impact across all its operations. The company has installed approximately 52.1 MW of renewable energy infrastructure and reduced 21160 tons of GHG emissions through energy efficiency initiatives in FY 2023. ARE&M also has world-class Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) and Zero Liquid Discharge systems, alongside initiatives aimed at improving water efficiency to reduce water consumption. The company is committed to improving groundwater levels through initiatives such as check dams, rainwater harvesting, and water body restorations.
Furthermore, ARE&M is dedicated to a circular economy, with over 70% of its raw materials sourced from recycled materials. The company is also setting up a battery recycling unit with a capacity of 150,000 tons as part of this commitment.
