Memorial Hospital unveils its Advanced
Cardiac Care Centre and Cath Lab
Makes
modern cardiac technology accessible to all
Godrej Memorial Hospital, a unit of Godrej
Memorial Trust, today inaugurated an Advanced Cardiac Care Centre that is
committed to provide advanced cardiac and vascular care to residents of Mumbai
and suburbs. The specialty care Centre is well-equipped to conduct angiography,
angioplasty, bypass and valvular surgery. Along with cardiac cases, the Centre is
well equipped to perform neurological procedures in a minimally invasive manner.
The Centre was inaugurated by Dr. F.E. Udwadia, Physician and Director of Critical
Care Unit, Breach Candy Hospital. Mr. Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman and Managing
Director, Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited also graced the
occasion.
The new Advanced Cardiac Care Centre, a part of
the Godrej Memorial Hospital at Vikhroli, will be equipped with a new Cath lab,
a dedicated operation theatre and an Intensive Care Unit. The Centre will be
functional round the clock and open to all. 40 beds will be dedicated to
patients undergoing treatment at this Centre, 10 of which will be for Intensive
Cardiac Care. A team of eminent cardiologists and cardiac surgeons will be dedicated
to the Advanced Cardiac Care Centre. The nurse – patient ratio will be
maintained at the recommended level of 1:1 for the 10 Intensive Cardiac Care
beds.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. F.E. Udwadia,
considered as the father of respiratory medicine in India, said, “Godrej
Memorial Hospital is exemplary in providing advanced healthcare to the common
man at affordable prices. In continuation with this purpose, its Advanced
Cardiac Care Centre offers interventional cardiology treatment, thus making it
a boon for heart patients in and around Mumbai.”
The state-of-the-art Cath Lab is supported with the
latest technology like Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR), Road Mapping and
Haemo-dynamic monitoring. Besides enabling advanced cardiac treatment, it will
also be used in neurological emergencies.

to treat an increasing number of patients suffering from heart ailments. This
Advanced Cardiac Centre completes our repertoire of cardiac treatment.”
Godrej Memorial Hospital (GMH) offers free
treatment for selected ailments under the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Aarogya
Yojana. The Anti Retroviral treatment (ART) for HIV and AIDS patients which is
an initiative of NACO (National AIDS Control Organisation) and CII
(Confederation of Indian Industry) is run free of cost at GMH. The Hospital has
also partnered with a US based NGO, Project Smile Train, to provide free cleft
lip and cleft palate surgeries to underprivileged children.
