Radio City Freedom Award
Musical High Notes for
Stirs great excitement with more than
500 entries across India
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City 91.1 FM, says, “Radio City Freedom Award is one of our biggest initiatives this year. The response has not only been overwhelming but has once again established us as a leader in this category. When we launched Radio City Freedom Award earlier last month, we were confident of a good response. But the way different categories have been flooded with entries, it reinforces our faith in Independent music and the vast talent pool India has across genres. Radio City Freedom Awards will undoubtedly become the biggest platform that will honour, recognize & celebrate independent music.”
The entries will be shortlisted on the basis of their originality, creativity and uniqueness. The best of entries solicited by our jury will be open for public voting. The jury comprises of some of esteemed independent music veterans including Atul Churamani, Yotam Agam, Midival Punditz, Nandini Srikar and Luke Kenny.
Speaking on the evolving scenario of independent music, jury member Luke Kenny says,” “Independent music has been there for long but has been limited in reach owing
to certain resource constraints. But now with the availability of sophisticated technology and platforms like RCFA, the scenario looks better than ever.” Putting across a message to the independent musicians, Luke says, “be true to your hearts to truly unleash the creative spirit in you.”
In the words of Nandini Srikar, “Radio City Freedom Award is a great platform to reach across to the right audience. It is an honour to be on the jury of RCFA and I hope I can do complete justice to the role. I feel truly happy to be associated with something pioneered by Radio City . The love for music and the passion you come across at Radio City is hard to find anywhere else.” Urging the independent musicians to action, she adds, “do not feel any inhibition in submitting your entries. Only when you compete will you be able to know where you stand in the exciting indie music scene.”
Yotam Agam, on the other hand, urged independent musicians to “keep on making independent music, unabated by any constraint.”
Radio City Freedom Awards is a pioneering effort to applaud the independent singers & musicians, who have pushed the boundaries to create unimagined musical breakthroughs in the independent music diaspora.
The entries close on the 5th of May. Stay tuned to Radio City 91.1 FM and log onto www.PlanetRadiocity.com for more updates on Radio City Freedom Awards.
