Mumbai: The one year completion anniversary of the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojna, a landmark scheme of the government to provide all inclusive healthcare to the nation’s people, was celebrated at SevenHills Hospital in Andheri East with the Honourable Maharashtra State Health Minister, Shri Suresh Shetty present as the Chief Guest.

In a country where ~80% of the nation’s populace gets access to only ~20% of the nation’s healthcare facilities, the government launched the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojna in a bid to provide all inclusive healthcare to the people. The scheme offers highly subsidised healthcare to the denizens of Maharashtra and hopes to benefit a total of 2.5 crore families in Maharashtra at an eventual cost of INR 800 crore.

Present to speak with the audience were Shri Suresh Shetty, Honourable Minister for Health, State of Maharashtra, Shrimati Fauzia Khan, Minister of State, Healthcare Ministry, Shri Naseem Khan, Guardian Minister, Dr. K. Venkatesh, CEO, Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojna, Mr. Ajay Gulhani, Dy. CEO, Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojna, Dr. Jitendra Das Maganti, Chairman & Managing Director, SevenHills Hospital and Brigadier Joe Curian, CEO, SevenHills Hospital.

“It is our attempt to alleviate the healthcare maladies that this country faces and the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojna is a step in the right direction and we hope to keep working with exemplary hospitals such as SevenHills in order to bring care to Indian society, irrespective of class or strata”, is what Shri Suresh Shetty, Honourable Health minister, State of Maharashtra, had to say at the anniversary.

With over 2800 patients taken care off in the last 1 year at SevenHills, the hospital has the highest number of patients treated among private hospitals in Mumbai, and hopes serve the underprivileged with the same care that is provided to the upper strata in India.
