Sports For All opens registration for Bigger Grander Second Season
The Unique Olympic style school sports event will take place
from Dec 5 to 24
Kids can compete at state of art facilities in
26 disciplines
Mumbai, July
13: Sports For All, India’s Premier Inter-School Sporting System, a
unique multi-sport competition platform for all schools in and around Mumbai,
is set for its second edition in a bigger and grander avatar. Mumbai’s marquee
sports event will be held from December 5 to 24 this year. Introduced last year to
identify and nurture future sporting champions mainly in Olympic sporting
disciplines, SFA lived up to every promise and delivered a stage to as many as
6,230 students from 302 schools participating and competing for top honors in 9
sporting disciplines at the state-of-art newly revamped DY Patil Sports
Complex. This year, SFA will offer students an opportunity to compete in 26
disciplines of sport in the best possible sporting environment.
Conceptualized and brought
to life by former sports administrator Rishikesh Joshi with the primary aim of
providing the right platform for talented young Indians, he is confident of
attracting over 35,000 sporting champions
from schools across Mumbai and its adjoining
districts for SFA Mumbai 2016.
The innovative concept,
which has cricketer star Rohit Sharma as a supporter and believer of this initiative, SFA is firmly poised to
usher in a sporting revolution in our country. SFA Mumbai 2015 turned out to be
a ‘Sports & Education Week’ last year, where children from all walks of
life not only played their best games but also learnt immensely from the
knowledge sharing sessions of eminent sports personalities. The team at SFA
also ensured that every small
detail was taken care of, including highest levels
of security measures, instant medical care, top class infrastructure at venues,
continuous supply of hydrating drinks, professional sports operators, best
equipment for each sport, sports clinics and even interactions with the inspirational
sports personalities. SFA’s uniqueness and impact also stemmed
from the fact that every match played was professionally video recorded,
resulting in a huge video pool for scouts and coaches to see and select talented
students. All 2000 matches of 2015 and their videos can be watched by logging
into www.sfanow.in. This year will have 35,000 athlete profiles and 11,000 videos of great talents across 26
disciplines of sport (19 Olympic disciplines) to choose
from! SFA now is also
extremely excited to be launching an all
new version of the online portal which is going to wow one and all. It has added multiple features which will connect all the stakeholders
involved in real time and as a first of a kind, users will have access to
extensive and comprehensive sporting records of our young talents.
Given
the magnitude at which SFA Mumbai 2016 is being aimed to be conducted, the
sporting events will take place over three weeks at 3 different venues
across Mumbai. The DY Patil Sports Stadium, Mumbai University Ground
(Athletics) and the MHA Hockey Stadium– all being best possible venues for each
sport. This year, SFA is also introducing new elements in its
online platforms as well as at the 20 day on-ground event to actively engage
and recognize the efforts of students, coaches and parents. It has announced two new awards for the top 10 Best Coaches of Mumbai
and Student Contingent Leaders which will motivate the guru’s and young
leaders.
“The inception of a
sporting system like SFA has marked a crucial change in the way inter-school
sport will be played in Mumbai city from hereon, it is a system that is
tailor-made to enable schools to govern their sports departments more
efficiently. SFA Mumbai 2016 is going to see the birth of so many more
champions. It was a huge success last year and we aim to take it to a much
higher level this time. We have received numerous queries from various schools
already and are confident of reaching our target of 35,000 talents from schools
across Mumbai” declared Rishikesh Joshi.
SFA has been a game-changer
for the grass-roots level sports industry and is the only all-encompassing inter-school
level sports programme for children in India. It has created a whole new eco
system which brings together sporting partners, coaches, federations, training,
talent scouting, and records maintenance on a comprehensive online portal,
besides the annual Olympic style tournament. It has enthused sports
professionals, coaches, school authorities, children& parents all alike. Along with sports
federations and associations, SFA currently has tie-ups with Michael Phelps
Swim School, Sports Reconnect, Sports United and Kleinetics and before the 2016
season kick offs it will steadily loop in Training and Development programs for all 26 sports. “My dreams would not have turned into reality without the trust and
support of all the schools and students who had participated in SFA Mumbai 2015.
Hence, this year I would urge more and more schools and especially our young
champions to participate and make the most of this platform.” Added
Rishikesh. Dr. VijayPatil, President of
DY Patil University &Sports Stadium who have been an integral partner to
SFA said “I strongly feel for this
initiative since it truly targets talent at the grassroots level. Mumbai has
never witnessed such a large scale professionally managed sports event for
children. We have taken the lead in setting up the best sports facility for our
children and I would urge every school, parent, teacher, coach to whole
heartedly be a part of this Olympic style tournament”
A one-city event currently,
SFA plans to expand and go
pan India by 2022. SFA hopes to make India proud of an all integrated and full proof
Inter-School & Inter-College sporting system, which will churn out a talent
pool of champions that will go on to represent India. SFA is a revolutionary
concept. It is not an incremental change – it is a radical change! Your support
and our spirit will help identify and create future champions.
