Ajinkya Rahaneinspires Indians to be Shiksha Superheroes



The renowned Indian cricketer joins hands with P&GShiksha to unveil the impact of building and supporting 1000 schoolsacross India

In its 12th year, P&G Shiksha will now impact the lives of over 10,00,000 children, by building & supporting over 1000 schools across India

Mumbai, June 2016: P&G’sflagship Corporate Social Responsibility program P&G Shikshacontinues to march forward with the motto‘Padhega India, Badhega India’. Now in its 12thyear, P&G Shiksha continues to make critical infrastructure andlearning interventions by building and supporting schools across thecountry thereby providing underprivileged children with access toeducation. This year, P&G Shiksha launched ‘ShikshaSuperheroes’ a campaign to acknowledge consumers, the real-lifesuperheroes who made a simple brand choice of buying P&G productsand contributing to this noble cause impacting the lives ofthousands of underprivileged children. Joining the movement this yearin Mumbai, the renowned Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane donned theavatar of ‘Shiksha Superhero’and unveiled the new impact numbers for P&G Shiksha. Till date,P&G Shiksha hasbuilt and supported more than 1000 schools which will impact thelives of around 10,00,000 children through educational interventionsright from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.



To celebrate this milestoneimpact, Shiksha Superhero Ajinkya Rahane interacted with students ofP&G Shiksha School. Rahane emphasizedon the importance of education in the lives of children andencouraged the people of India and Mumbai to be Shiksha Superheroesby simply choosing P&G Products and contribute to the educationof underprivileged children. Rahane shared his school memories withthe children and was very impressed with the confidence, intelligenceand exuberance demonstrated by them.

With the objective of providingaccess to education to every child across the nation, P&G Shikshais working extensively by making key infrastructure interventions.P&G Shikshahas been instrumental in the change by equipping the schools withnecessary amenities from building classrooms to providing cleandrinking water to setting up playgrounds thereby bringing down thedropout rate and improving overall literacy rate in Maharashtra.
One of the most noteworthyinitiatives undertaken this year were in Chennai , where due to P&GShiksha’s intervention of building a new classrooms and toilets in the school resulted in the number of enrolments to increase byalmost double. Apart from Chennai, there have been many otherdifferent kinds of interventions like building new classrooms at theP&G Shiksha School in Delhi, encouraging girl child education inHyderabad by providing the school with cleaner and hygienic toilets.These interventions supported by P&G Shiksha aid the minds ofunder-privileged children by encouraging them to fulfil their dreamsby receiving an education in a healthy and safer environment.
