A new initiative by Board of Studies of ICAI

The Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India co-hosted the Curtain Raiser programme with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India as a prelude to India’s lead in global celebration of International Yoga Day on 21 June, 2016.

To celebrate the spirit of healthy lifestyle and stress management, the ICAI today is joined by over 2.25 lakhs members and over 8 lakh students in support of the initiative by Ministy of Ayush spearheaded by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

The ICAI has always been a torchbearer in promoting healthy living through various initiatives including marathon runs, yoga and stress management sessions.

The ICAI recognizes Yoga as India’s greatest contribution to the world and represents India’s glorious tradition by promoting holistic  lifestyle.

The ICAI shares the vision unvield by the Prime Minister,Shri Narendra Modi  at the UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014 that “It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change.” It must be noted that the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in December 2014 after the Prime Minister pitched for it in his maiden address to the UN General Assembly in New York.

Board of Studies of ICAI believes that just 15 minutes of Yoga practice every day can tremendously help in maintaining a healthy mind and body relieving stress of daily work commute and anxiety during exams days. Yoga enhances vitality, focus, memory, stabilizes the body, mind and emotions.

The ICAI has planned a massive outreach program to promote Yoga as a daily lifestyle practice amongst its family of over 10 lakh members and students through its 5 Regional Offices, 157 Branches and 27 Overseas Chapters.

The ICAI on behalf of its members and governing council express its deep appreciation of the Prime Minister of India for taking a global lead in promoting India’s glorious ancient heritage of healthy and holistic lifestyle.

ICAI is honoured to partner with the Ministry of Ayush and we express our  gratitude to Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State ( Independent Charge).
