MAHARASHTRA WON 7 MEDALS IN NATIONAL T.T. CHAMPIONSHIPS

Mumbai, 25 Jan : Maharashtra Table Tennis players achieved a historic milestone in the 85th UTT Sub Junior and Cadet National Champonships held At Indore from 16th to 24th Jan. 2024. The Maharashtra contingvent demonstrated supremacy, securing an impressive tally of 7 medals (2 GOLD, 3 SILVER and 2 BRONZE). This remarkable feet not only signifies the players’ exceptional skills but also marks a significant chapter in Maharashtra sporting history, showcasing their prowess on the National stage, with their best ever performance in 85 years.
Highlights of the finals: -
Girls Under-15 Singles (1 Gold & 1 Silver): -
Divyanshi Bhowmick clinched a much-deserved Gold Medal, while Kavya Bhatt had to be contented with a Silver. Divyanshi won the finals 3-0.
Girls Under-15 Doubles (1 Gold): -
Divyanshi Bhowmick and Kavya Bhatt knocked out the more fancied duo M.Hansini and Ananya M from Tamil Nadu 3-1 in the finals.
Girls Under-15 Teams (1 Silver): -
Maharashtra team comprising of Divyanshi Bhowmick, Ikshika Unate, Kavya Bhatt and Riana Bhoota lost narrowly in the finals after giving a good fight to title contenders Tamil Nadu 2-3 and had to settle for silver in the finals. Ananya beat Riana Bhoota 3-2, Hansini beat Divyanshi 3-2, M.Hansini & Ananya Muralidharan lost to Divyanshi Bhowmick & Kavya Bhatt 2-3, Hansini lost to Riana Bhoota 2-3 and Ananya beat Divyanshi 3-0. Earlier in the quarter finals, Maharashtra beat Telanga 3-0 and knocked out the title favorites and reigning Champion Delhi 3-2 in the Semi-finals.
Girls Under-13 Singles (1 Silver): -
Naisha Rewaskar lost in the finals to Ahona Ray of Bengal 1-3.
Girls Under-15 Doubles (1 Bronze): -
Naisha Rewaskar and Sanvi Puranik combined well to secure a Bronze Medal.
According to Jagdeep S Bhiwandkar, Manager of the Maharashtra team the entire credit goes to the personal Coaches of the players, their Parents and also to the respective school authorities for their unconditional support, cooperation and encouragement to the Medal winners. These results are bound to create hopes and aspers well for the game in Maharashtra.
