Karmphal Data Shani

About the Set:

To highlight the opulence of the show, and to build authenticity around its on-screen projection, COLORS and Swastik Productions has designed extravagant and sprawling set spread across 65,000 square feet in Umbergaon near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border.

The larger-than-life sets have been built to showcase four distinctly different and luminescent settings:
Swargalok: also called as Indra-lok, i.e. where the Gods/Devtas stay
Patallok: where the Asuras stay
Suryalok: also called Surya Mahal, i.e. where Surya Dev stays with his family (size: 30,000 square feet)
A dense forest: where Chhaya takes Shani reside (size: 25,000 square feet)

More than 600 workers have worked diligently to design and build the grand sets based on the representations from age-old Indian texts. Each set is double in size compared to the sets of any other show on Indian television.

Lord Surya’s throne placed in the Surya Mahal is undoubtedly the highlight of the entire set. Made of a solid gold base with elements of black, the throne is designed to make Surya Dev stand apart whilst in front of the all-gold environment. The overall design of the throne makes it appear as if it reflects the energy emitted from the Sun into the world.

About the Costumes:
The specially designed costumes and jewellery are in keeping with the magnificence and majestic-ness of the pre-evolution era. Their design, arrived at after extensive research, strives to maintain the authenticity of each character.

The costumes draw inspiration from Indian celestial texts (the Vedas), keeping in mind the contemporary outlook of present day viewers, thereby making it more relevant. They are, for a large part, set in monochrome with less than 3 colours forming the crux of each character’s attire. Every character has a signature gemstone which has been used to design their accessories. For Shani, there is a blazing blue sapphire, Surya Dev has a fiery ruby, Shukracharya has a sparkling diamond and Indra Dev also has a sapphire.

There is great attention to detail which has been paid while designing the jewellery to give the costumes a more authentic and royal appearanc
