Premium Indian salt brands contain cyanide content at alarming levels, reveals US lab report

by Priya Jadhav Mumbai,June, 2019 : Processed iodized salt sold by premium brands in India contains carcinogenic and other harmful components such as cyanide at alarming levels, reveals a report by an US analytical laboratory. American West Analytical Laboratories, which conducted the test, reveals that  Tata Salt contains  cyanide levels at an alarming 1.85mg/kg. While the cyanide level in Sambhar Refined Salt is 4.71mg/kg, the level is 1.90 mg/kg in Tata Salt Lite. Shiv Shankar Gupta, Chairman of Godhum Grains & Farm Product took the initiative to get the test done on numerous Indian salt brand. A 36- year old woman with 27-weeks of pregnancy was admitted at the Fetal Medicine Department of Surya Hospitals after having diagnosed with serious fetal complications. A multidisciplinary team of experts swung into action and performed one of the most complicated procedures to save a newborn who is now responding well to the treatment. Experts are monitoring his health closely for the last six months. Detailed fetal ultrasound evaluation revealed generalized swelling around the fetus with severe fluid accumulation around the left lung. Sri Lanka Tourism launches special packages for Indian tourists

by Priya Jadhav In an effort to ramp up Indian outbound tourists visiting Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Tourism in collaboration with SriLankan Airlines, The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) and inbound tour operators has introduced attractive packages, specifically targeting India, the number one source market, to revive the industry that had a temporary setback due to the recent incident. The package offered includes discounted airfare, accommodation, transport and more, ranging from 30 % to 60%. This package is unique to India and can be availed across Sri Lankan Airlines’ network covering 12 cities in India with 123 weekly flights.
