At the first meeting of the CII Western Regional Council 2015-16 Mr Sanjay Kirloskar was elected as the Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) Western Region and Mr Sudhir Mehta was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry, (CII) Western Region, the apex Industry body, CII.

After being elected as the Chairman, CII Western Region, Mr Kirloskar shared that, “The theme for CII Western Region for 2015-16 is – “Enhancing Competitiveness to Accelerate Growth and Create Employment”, the goals of which are closely aligned to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of Make in India. During the year, the focus for us in the Western Region would be to improve governance, enhance competitiveness and facilitate ease of doing business to catalyse sustainable and ethical growth in the region.

“Make in India” will prove to be one of those landmark campaigns that will lay a strong foundation for the sustainable socio-economic progress of the nation. However, the dream of transforming India into a global manufacturing hub is possible only if India aims for global standards not only with respect to products and processes but also in terms of ease of doing business. The industry must imbibe the culture of `Zero Defect, Zero Effect’. The journey is definitely long and a lot needs to be done. I am confident that together, the industry and government can and will achieve this dream.” Stated Mr Kirloskar.

Mr Kirlosker further mentioned that “The Western Region is one of the most dynamic and vibrant economies in India. As industry, we are committed to working closely with the individual state governments to improve the overall business environment in the region and to enable it attract higher investments so that it can take on the challenge of `Make in India’ and emerge winner”.

Mr Kirloskar is the Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL). KBL is India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of pumps. The core businesses of KBL are large infrastructure projects (Water Supply, Power Plants, and Irrigation), Engineered Pumps, Industrial Pumps, Agriculture and Domestic Pumps, Valves, Motors and Hydro turbines.

Mr Sudhir Mehta is the Chairman & Managing Director of Pinnacle Industries Ltd, Madhya Pradesh which is India’s largest commercial vehicle seating and interiors company. Mr Mehta holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Economics - Depauw University, USA and MBA in Finance & International Business - University of Chicago, USA.
