Mumbai 18 February 2016 – The 2016 edition of Food&HotelAsia (FHA), Asia’s most established and comprehensive food and hospitality industry event will bring together more than 3,000 exhibitors from around the world to showcase a range of the latest products and ingredients, equipment and supplies, and best-of-breed services. The four-day exhibition from 12 – 15 April 2016 at the Singapore Expo, organised by Singapore Exhibition Services, will provide a strong platform and opportunity for trade attendees to meet, network and exchange best practices and perspectives with regional and international industry players.

India’s F&B industry on growth path
According to a recent report, India’s food and beverage (F&B) industry is expected to grow at an average annual pace of 24 per cent and targeted to reach Rs.3.8 trillion in sales by 2017. The restaurant sector is reported to grow the fastest, whilst cafes will see growth of 10.7 per cent annually. Indian consumers, especially young people between 20 to 25 years old, are also noted to be spending half of their total consumption expenditure on food. Urbanisation, changing lifestyles and food preferences are key factors impacting the growth of the industry.

Speaking at a press conference today Mr. Himanshu Taneja, Executive Chef, JW Marriott says, “2016 is a big year for the F&B industry with great innovations in the pipeline. Simple crafted dishes made with ingredients that are locally grown and organic will take centre stage. Consumers will expect more than the ordinary, dishes which have a unique story to tell and restaurants which are social media friendly will be cherished. Insightful conferences and exhibitions like FHA2016 and FHA2016 International Conference showcase the industry’s development and innovation, and cater to the region’s booming hospitality segment.”

Also speaking at the press conference today, Ms. Ting Siew Mui, Project Director - Lifestyle Events of organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services added, “India’s F&B industry is diverse and expected to grow, as lifestyles change and people, especially in the urban areas, becoming more affluent. FHA2016 – with its range of technologies, products and services covering all sectors of the food and hospitality industries – is an invaluable sourcing ground for Indian attendees under one roof. Indian participants will have opportunities to engage with major international and regional players and expand their business networks.”

Comprehensive and holistic experience at FHA2016
FHA2016 will feature six specialised exhibitions, namely FoodAsia, HotelAsia, Speciality Coffee&Tea, Bakery&Pastry, HospitalityStyleAsia and HospitalityTechnology, each with their own unique themes and areas of focus. Adding to the holistic experience, FHA2016 will also host a series of activities including intense, prestigious competitions targeting professionals from specific groups and sectors of the food and hospitality industry. These include the FHA Culinary Challenge 2016, the FHA Barista Challenge 2016, the CTI Latte Art Duel @ FHA and Asian Pastry Cup 2016. Self-guided trails and a Halal supermarket will be launched at FHA2016 for the first time as well.

Held in conjunction with the exhibition, the FHA2016 International Conference will discuss key new trends in the hotels and resort management, food services and food manufacturing industries. Joint plenary sessions featuring CEO Insights, Stakeholders Panel Discussions and think tanks will see leading international experts from Accor Hotels, CBRE Hotels, Cornell University, Inter Continental Hotels Group, Jumeirah Hotels Group, Panorama Group, to name a few, sharing their perspectives and views on the latest trends in the food and hospitality sectors. To complement the international conference programme, five new workshops and two site visits have been incorporated into the 2016 agenda, ensuring an unparalleled learning environment for delegates.

Strong international participation at inaugural ProWine ASIA 2016 ProWine ASIA 2016, the newest ProWein satellite event for Southeast Asia, will be held alongside FHA2016 for the first time in April. Jointly organised by Singapore Exhibition Services and Messe Düsseldorf Asia, ProWine ASIA is modelled on the globally recognised wine and spirits trade fair ProWein. To date, it has received a strong vote of confidence from both international group pavilions and individual exhibitors across 20 countries and regions, including Australia, Austria, Argentina, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, UK and USA. This strong international participation reflects the growing market opportunities in the region, which will see seven million new prospective drinkers, join the market yearly, with a 13 percent increase in spending.

ProWine ASIA 2016 is a valuable and opportune platform for industry players to network and close fruitful collaborations, with its impressive representation from all relevant wine producing nations and regions, including ‘newcomers’ to the international wine business. Trade visitors to the event can look forward to participate in wine and sake masterclasses, in-depth seminars and presentations hosted by various key industry players and experts. They will also get a chance to take part in specially crafted workshops that will cover topics including autochthonous grape varieties and the diversity of wine.
This year, industry buyers can expect to source from a gathering of 3,300 exhibitors from 90 countries/regions and 78 group pavilions at FHA and ProWine ASIA.
