Shreeji Shipping Global Limited Receives Approval under Tonnage Tax Scheme from Income Tax Department

Shreeji Shipping Global Limited (NSE: SHREEJISPG, BSE: 544490) has announced that it has received approval from the Income Tax Department for opting into the Tonnage Tax Scheme ("TTS") under Section 115VP(1) of Chapter XII-G of the Income-tax Act, 1961, in respect of its eligible qualifying inland vessels engaged in the shipping business.

The approval is effective from Financial Year 2025-26 (Assessment Year 2026-27) and will remain valid up to Financial Year 2034-35 or any other applicable date as per law, whichever is earlier, subject to compliance with the applicable provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961 and the rules framed thereunder.

The Company has described the approval as a significant milestone that reinforces its position in the inland shipping sector. It believes the Tonnage Tax Scheme framework is expected to provide enhanced long-term tax visibility and improved tax efficiency for its eligible shipping operations, which will have a positive impact on its profitability and cash flows over the long term. The approval is also expected to strengthen its long-term growth strategy and support operational scalability.

Under the Tonnage Tax Scheme, a shipping company's tax is calculated based on the net tonnage (carrying capacity) of its vessels rather than on its actual profits. This means that even if the company earns higher revenues, its tax liability remains fixed and predictable, tied to the size of its fleet rather than fluctuating with income. For Shreeji Shipping Global Limited, this translates into lower and more stable tax outflows, which directly improves its net profitability and frees up more cash from operations.

Earlier, the company entered into a Strategic Port Handling Agreement with Karanja Terminal & Logistics Private Limited. Effective February 10, 2026, the Company has secured exclusive rights to handle dry bulk and liquid cargo at a dedicated 200-meter waterfront facility located at Karanja Creek, Raigad District, Maharashtra and operations are expected to start by end of March, 2026.

Shreeji Shipping Global Ltd is a leading provider of integrated shipping and logistics solutions for dry bulk cargo across India and Sri Lanka. With a fleet of over 80 vessels—including barges, mini bulk carriers, tugboats, and floating cranes—and more than 370 units of earthmoving and cargo-handling equipment, the company delivers end-to-end services in cargo handling, transportation, fleet chartering, and equipment rentals.

Founded in 1995, Shreeji Shipping Global carries forward a legacy of over three decades in the shipping and logistics sector. Promoted by industry veterans Ashokkumar Haridas Lal and Jitendra Haridas Lal, who bring more than 60 years of combined experience, the company has grown into a trusted partner for dry bulk cargo handling at both all-weather and seasonal ports.
