Cool Sculpting: The Healthy Way to Get Rid of Fat Freezes fat to safely get rid of stubborn bulges without use of needles or surgery

Mumbai, 15th December 2016: Twenty-three-year-old Shilpa Marathe (name changed) struggled with hiding her bulging tummy. Undergoing the knife was never an option for her as she was not willing to use needles or unnatural radiations/lasers on her body. Just like Shilpa, several men and women who despite diet and exercise, continue to have stubborn layers of fat can now breathe a sigh of relief. Apollo Cosmetic Clinics has recently introduced a revolutionary technology called Cool Sculpting that promises to freeze away all your fat bulges the healthy way without the need to undergo the knife.

Born from the observation that some children developed dimples due to eating popsicles, Cool Sculpting is different than most other methods of fat reduction. This new, non-invasive, no needle, no scalpel and a no scar alternative is based on a proven science called Cryolipolysis which states that cold can selectively affect fat cells.

Talking about the procedure, Dr Kuldeep Singh, Senior Consultant, Apollo Cosmetic Clinics, New Delhi, said, “Most patients are uncomfortable with surgical methods of fat reduction. Procedures that use laser, sonic waves and even surgery to remove fat can destroy other tissues in the process by burning, shattering or extracting non-fat cells. This requires downtime for the body to heal. Fortunately, Cool Sculpting doesn't burn, shatter or extract any cells.

Developed by Harvard scientists, this unique, FDA-cleared, patented procedure uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath the skin, literally freezing them to the point of elimination. The healthy skin cells remain well and healthy. In this non-surgical treatment, there is a vacuum applicator which sucks in a fold of skin and fat in the targeted area. Then there is a cooling effect which is given at the specified area in such a manner that it does not affect the tissues of the skin. The temperature achieved by the applicator is more than enough to freeze the fat cells in the fold inside applicator.

Dr Shahin Nooreyezdan, Senior Consultant, Apollo Cosmetic Clinics, New Delhi, added, “The underlying principle of this method is that when the fat cells are exposed to extreme cold they begin to reduce their size and in the long run they disappear. This happens because of a natural process known as apoptosis - also known as the natural death of the cells.”

The process of Cool Sculpting helps in reducing the weight of the body gradually, so it may take more than one sessions to achieve the desired results. Less expensive than the liposuction method, Cool Sculpting is an attractive painless and cost effective option for patients who wish to instantly resume their daily activities, including work and exercise.
