Bengaluru, July 1, 2023: A record 120-plus riders will line up at the start point when the curtain goes up on the glamorous Reise Indian National Rally Sprint Championship here on Sunday.

Among the star attractions will be Rajendra R, Samuel Jacob and Sachin D, who will be vying for the coveted 550cc championship in the Open category. Each is a national champion, with multiple titles and race-wins under their belts.

Rally Sprint is a hybrid version of racing and rallying, tweaked to titillate spectators like a Twenty20 match in cricket. The opening South Zone round is being held in Sarjapur near Bengaluru and will be followed by three other rounds in Chandigarh (North Zone), Baroda (West Zone), Guwahati (East Zone) and the Grand Finale in Goa.

“Rally sprint is a very exciting format. The riders love it, as do spectators. This year we have a very strong field and the competition is going to be intense,” Motorsport Inc’s Jai Das Menon, the promoter and organiser of the championship, said.

The 10-km Reise INRSC will see competitions in different categories, right from 131cc to 165cc, 166cc to 260cc, 261cc to 400cc to finally upto 550cc. Not just that, titles will be up for grabs in several other categories, including Scooter Class, Bullet Class and a special Women’s class, which has attracted six ladies.

The field has riders from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, setting the stage for exciting battles.
