Jamnabai Narsee bag grand treble in 11Even Sports Inter-School TT championship

Mumbai, August 31: Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu bagged a grand treble, winning the senior girl’s, junior boys and senior boys team championship titles in the 11Even Sports Inter-School Table Tennis State Championships, Maharashtra, 2016, sponsored by Robomate+, powered by Square Off Sports, and played at the Khar Gymkhana table tennis hall on Wednesday. Nalanda Public School claimed the junior girls’ team championship when they overcame Utpal Sanghvi Global School, Juhu 3-2 in a tense final.
In the senior girls’ final, Jamnabai Narsee boasting of Maharashtra players Vidhi Shah and Mihika Rohira in their team, brooked little opposition from Utpal Sanghvi Global School, Juhu and coasted to a 3-0 triumph.
On the side table, Jamnabai lads produced a solid performance to trounce Dhirubhai Ambani International School, BKC by a 3-0 margin to clinch the junior boys’ title. The senior Jamnabai team had quite a fight on hand before they managed to shut out Fr. Agnel Multipurpose H.S., Vashi by a close 3-2 margin in an engrossing senior boys’ final.
All the four teams have qualified for the All-India finals to be held in December. The venue has not been finalized.
The senior girls’ final was a one-sided contest as Mihika defeated Utpal Sanghvi’s Vidhi Shah 11-8, 11-9, 11-2 in the opening rubber before Vidhi scored an easy 11-5, 11-2, 11-4 over Saloni Agarwal to take a 2-0 lead. Later, both Mihika and Vidhi went on to win the doubles tie defeating Vidhi and Saloni 12-10, 11-4, 11-6 to quickly wrap up the match.
The junior boys’ final was also a tame affair as the Jamnabai lads produced a solid performance to trounce Dhirubhai Ambani International School, BKC by a 3-0 margin.Neer Kapadia gave Jamnabai a great start with a fluent 11-6, 11-9, 11-9 win against Ambani’s Rhiaan Jhaveri before Rajeev Shah won the second rubber beating Aadit Tibrewala 11-9, 11-4, 6-11, 6-11, 11-7. Later, Neer and Rajeev completed the win by scoring a 13-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9 win over the Ambani pairing of bt Rhiaan to Aadit to finish on top.

Senior girls: Jamnabai Narsee School beat Utpal Sanghvi Global School 3-0 (Mihika Rohira bt Vidhi Shah 11-8, 11-9, 11-2; Vidhi Shah bt Saloni Agarwal 11-5, 11-2, 11-4; Mihika/Vidhi bt Vidhi/Saloni 12-10, 11-4, 11-6).
Junior boys: Jamnabai Narsee School beat Dhirubhai Ambani International School 3-0 (Neer Kapadia bt Rhiaan Jhaveri 11-6, 11-9, 11-9; Rajeev Shah bt Aadit Tibrewala 11-9, 11-4, 6-11, 6-11, 11-7; Neer/Rajeev bt Rhiaan/Aadit 13-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9).

Agnel Multipurpose H.S. 3-2 (Manav Mehta lost to Yash Deshmukh 11-9, 8-11, 10-12, 11-8, 8-11; Dev Shroff bt Deepit Patil 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 5-11, 11-9; Manav/Dev bt Deepit/Vipul Nandkar 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-2; Manav lost to Deepit 5-11, 4-11, 7-11; Dev bt Yash 11-7, 11-5, 11-9).
