VENGSARKAR’S CONTRIBUTION TO CRICKET IS BIGGER THAN GAVASKAR & TENDULKAR – GHAVRI

Mumbai, 21st April : “Dilip Vengsarkar’s contribution to Cricket is bigger than Gavaskar and Tendulkar “ said former India allrounder Karsan Ghavri at the prize distribution function of the Dream 11 cup for the under 11 age group boys at the Oval maidan, Churchgate. After his retirement from international cricket, the way Dilip Vengsarkar developed cricket academies and worked hard at the grassroot level of the game and thereby offered a great platform to the upcoming cricketers to showcase their talent, is simply exemplary.
In the mean time MIG Cricket club won the thriller of the final match against Ganesh Palkar Cricket Club (GPCC) by 7 runs to clinch the title. MIG while batting first made 144/2 in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Agastya Kashikar with unbeaten 59 ( 54 balls with 5 fours) had a second wicket partnership of 90 runs with Vedang Mishra (47 in 44 balls with 4 fours) and again unbeaten 45 runs partnership for the third wicket with Prerit Raut (28 n.o.). While chasing this target Sanmit Kothmire (35) and Siddhant Singh (45) gave their team a rays of hope but once they departed none other batsman could maintain the required run rate and were restricted to 137/9 in 20 overs. Rajveer Lad took 3 wickets for 24 runs and was supported by the whole team by their good fielding. As expected Vedang Mishra earn the man of the match award of the final. Allround performance of Vedang looted all the prizes like best batsman, best bowler, best fielder and also best player of the tournament awards. Vengsarkar and Karasn Ghavri both appreciated his performance. Former India captain Vengsarkar, Former India allrounder Karsan Ghavri, Deepak Jadhav, Nissar Naik of Naik Fisheries and Prashant Tayade of Dream 11 gave away the prizes.
