AICTE Chairman Confers Degrees Upon 610 Students at 14th Convocation of GITAM Bengaluru

Advising fresh graduates, the AICTE head said the key to success lies in one’s ability to learn life-long, to stay curious, and to be open to new ideas

Bengaluru, May 20, 2023:  Awarding degrees to 610 recent graduates from the 2022–2023 Batch, the Bengaluru campus of the prestigious GITAM (Deemed to be University) held its 14th convocation ceremony on Saturday. The chief guest for the event was Prof. (Dr.) T G Sitharam, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.

The degrees were awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate students of engineering (509), science (19) and management (82) disciplines. The GITAM President Gold Medals were awarded to 10 students for outstanding academic performance.

Delivering his convocation address, Prof. (Dr.) T G Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE said, “Innovation has always been the lifeblood of education, and today, as we gather to celebrate the accomplishments of these remarkable graduates, we recognize the urgent need for continued innovation in the realm of education. The world is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and the future of work demands a new set of skills, adaptability, and a mindset that embraces change. It is imperative for our fresh graduates to not only be equipped with a strong foundation of knowledge but also to possess the ability to evolve, innovate, and thrive in an ever-changing landscape. We must empower them with the tools and resources to think critically, solve complex problems, and embrace emerging technologies. Let us remember that education is not a destination but a lifelong journey”.

Students were conferred degrees and medals by the chief guest and academic dignitaries on stage amid inspirational speeches. Prof. Dayananda Siddavattam, Vice Chancellor, GITAM (Deemed to be University) administered the oath to the graduating students. The ceremony also saw the presentation of the annual report by Prof. M.S. Mohan Kumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Bengaluru Campus, GITAM (Deemed to be University).

Shri M. Sri Bharat, President, GITAM (Deemed to be University), said, “As we celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2023 at GITAM Bengaluru campus, we remember the hard work and dedication of these future nation-builders. With profound optimism, I am confident that our graduates are poised to shape the world with their refined skillsets, innovative ideas, and unwavering determination.”

During the event, Prof Dayananda Siddavattam, Vice Chancellor; Shri M. Sri Bharat, President; members of the Board of Management and academic dignitaries were present, including M. Bharadwaj, Secretary; Dr. D. Gunasekaran, Registrar, Gowthama Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor (Campus Life) and Prof. M. S. Mohan Kumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Bengaluru Campus, GITAM.

In 2023, a total of 4470 students graduated from across all three campuses of GITAM (Deemed to be University).
