HOME GROUND ACADEMY & MADHAV APTE XI WILL CLASH FOR TITLE

Mumbai, 16th May : Home Ground Academy stormed into the finals of the 1st Madhav Apte Cup under 15 Girls Cricket Tournament, organized by Cricket Club of India at Breborne Stadium. They registered their second consecutive win when they defeated Salgaonkar Sports Club today by 43 runs. In the morning session the match between Achivers Cricket Academy and Madhav Apte Eleven ended in a tie to give one point each to both the teams. In the afternoon session Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation beat hosts CCI Kids Academy by 40 runs. Now Home Ground Academy will clash for title with Madhav Apte XI tomorrow at 12.00 p.m. Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation and CCI Kids Academy will fight for the third and fourth place in the morning tomorrow at 9.00 a.m.

Home Ground Academy while batting first made 107/7 in 20 overs. They were 57/7 when Yulon Mendonca (15 n.o.) and Kanak Jethwa (24 n.o.) had 50 runs partnership for the 8th wicket to have some respectable score of 107/7. But their bowlers successfully defended this total to bundle out opponent Salgaonkar Sports Club to 64 runs in 18.2 overs. Janhavi Vasaikar took 4 for 5 runs and was well supported by Arya Umesh (2/10) and Shanaya Jhaveri (2/5). By winning both the league matches they confirmed their seat in the finals.

In another match Achievers scored 100/8 in twenty overs and they restrict Madhav Apte XI on the same score with 100/4 in 20 overs.

In the afternoon session Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation girls showed good batting skills to score 159 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. Their openers Ira Jadhav (81 in 57 balls with 15 fours) and Mugdha Parte (47 with 7 fours) put together 147 runs. In reply CCI Kids Academy could manage to score just 119/8 in 20 overs. Sana Shaikh made 20, Pearl Correa 23, and Dhruvi Trivedi remain not out on 44. Swara Jadhav of D.V. Foundation was the most successful bowler as she took 3 for 37 runs.
