ST. LOUIS (Feb. 2017) – Monsanto Company was today named one of the 2017 World’s most admired companies by Fortune Magazine, attaining the rank of No. 2 within the company’s industry sector.
“It’s an honor to receive this recognition for the fourth year in a row,” said Hugh Grant, Monsanto Chairman and CEO. “This ranking not only celebrates Monsanto’s pledge to operating with transparency and reporting progress, but also underscores our global commitment to develop innovations and digital tools to help farmers address global issues such as climate change and food security.”
The Fortune World’s Most Admired Companies list is based on company surveys and peer ratings from 15,000 senior executives, directors and analysts. Survey participants provide ratings on a company’s innovativeness and quality of products, to the retention of talented people and their responsibility to the community and the environment. Monsanto and others named to the 2017 World’s Most Admired Companies list are featured online today and will appear in the magazine’s March print issue.
Monsanto’s continued efforts to provide a supportive, inclusive global workplace has led other third-party organizations to recognize the company as an employer of choice.  In recent months, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) named Monsanto as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality; Science Magazine recognized Monsanto as one of the world’s top science employers; and DiversityInc  named Monsanto to its Top 50 Companies for Diversity List.
